Alpha

Alpha is program open to everyone that wants to explore the Christian faith and life. Alpha runs for up to IS weeks and each session has fellowship, a video presentation and an open non-judgmental conversation about each topic. The objective is creating a space where people feel comfortable to meet Jesus and develop a relationship with Him. Alpha is designed to be a space where people from all backgrounds can feel comfortable bringing their friends to discuss Jesus.

Baptism Preparation

The Baptism Formation ministry provides information and prepares parents wanting to baptise their infant or child up to 6 years old in the Catholic Faith. The preparation sessions include explaining the symbols used during the ceremony, a brief explanation of the ceremony and a discussion on the importance of the parents and godparents in bringing up their child in the Catholic faith. Baptism information evenings are held on the first Monday of each month at 7:00pm in church.

RCIA - Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

RCIA is a process for adults who have either never been baptised or received a valid Christian baptism and wish to become Roman Catholic (Catechumens) or for those who have received a valid Christian baptism from other Christian churches and wish to become Catholic through Confirmation and Holy Communion (Candidates). The RCIA team meet every Tuesday at 7:00pm in the Theatrette from September through to the end of Easter the following year.

Welcoming Group

The Welcoming Group extends welcome to new parishioners and encourages them to feel part of our community of faith. Members organise and provide fellowship, after 10:30 Mass on the third Sunday of the month. Members also meet to discuss and plan for future activities for the benefit of the faith community.

2. Formation

Bible Study

The Bible Study group focuses on reflecting on the Word of God and its meaning in today's world. Every week a session is held where a different chapter or passage from the Bible is selected for study. The group joins in by asking questions and providing possible interpretations for that particular passage. The reflection shared and answers to questions help all members to learn and understand the Bible in a deeper sense. The Bible study group meets online every Monday from 7pm to 8:15 pm

Children's Liturgy of the Word

This ministry seeks to instil in children a love for Holy Scripture through discussion, reflection, prayer, art and song. Children joining the Children's Liturgy of the Word get the opportunity to listen to the Sunday Gospel, reflect upon God's message and pray together. This helps them to get a deeper understanding and growth in Christian living, worship, and celebration of Faith for the children. Children's Liturgy of the Word is available at the 10:30am Mass every first and third Sunday.

Children's Sacramental Program (Sunday School)

The Sunday School sacramental program instructs children in religious matters preparing them to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, First Communion or Confirmation. The group meets every Sunday for 1 to 2 hours during school terms and lessons are held in St. Peter's school rooms. Catechists enjoy the pleasure of nurturing children in the Catholic faith and assisting them to come to know our loving God.

School of Discipleship

The School of Discipleship is a program designed to teach people more about the Catholic Faith with three express purposes: to learn the faith, to live the faith and to share the faith. The school looks to make Missionary Disciples who have encountered Christ and have decided to follow Him and live an intentional life of faith and service. The school runs for 20 weeks, each session consists of teaching various aspects of the Catholic faith. The School of Discipleship also looks to train members on how to be leaders and share the faith with others.

St Peter's Charismatic Prayer Community -KNK

St Peter's Charismatic Prayer Community meets every Saturday from 2:30-4:00pm for a time of praise, worship, thanksgiving and prayer. Inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit and using His gifts, the group proclaims God's Good News and helps each other to build up a personal relationship with God. Other activities include, assisting charities and other Prayer communities, conducting annual Stations of the Cross at the Shrine of Ta Pinu, organising monthly Healing Masses and preparing the Nine Day Dawn Mass Novena (Simbang Gabi) in the lead up to Christmas. The group meets regularly in the Church every Saturday from February to November and all are welcome to join anytime.

Youth Group

The Youth group is for young people between 12 and 18 years old who want to learn more about Jesus and have fun. The group meets on Sundays at 6pm in the church foyer every 2nd and 4th Sunday during school term. In every session there is time to pray, play and have fellowship. The group also brings guest speakers who break the Word, share their personal faith journey and the encounters they have had with Christ seeking to inspire the young. This is a ministry where long lasting friendships are built.

3. Worship

Altar Servers

Children can serve at mass as altar servers and help the celebrating priest with tasks such as by holding the Missal book during prayers, receiving gifts with the priest and Carrying the cross, incense, or candles. Altar Servers receive regular training to allow them to become confident with the activities and tasks during mass.

Music Ministry

The Music Ministry provides liturgical music for the enhancement of the Eucharistic celebrations, to help the community elevate their spirit to God and help the faithful participate in the Church's celebrations. The ministry currently consists of 12 choirs, that meet regularly to rehearse and make new song selections. Our choirs play at all the Sunday masses, Wednesday's evening mass and special feasts and novenas.

Serving at Mass

For the celebration of the Eucharist lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Communion and Altar Servers are required to help the celebrating priest at mass. You can serve at mass as a lector by proclaiming the Word of God and reading the prayers of the faithful; Communion Minister by distributing Holy Communion during mass or Altar Server by holding the book during prayers, receiving gifts with the priest and carrying the cross, incense, or candles.

4. Fellowship

St. Peter's Men for Christ

The Men for Christ ministry seeks to empower men to deepen their relationship with God, strengthen bonds with their families and one another, and become kinship, serving the church and the broader community with love, compassion, and purpose. The key goals of this ministry are to build a community of like minded men, foster fellowship, personal and spiritual growth and provide opportunities to service the community.
Men for Christ ministry meets at the Community Centre on the 2 nd Monday of the month from 7-9pm.

St. Peter's Women Together in Christ

The Women Together in Christ ministry seeks to unite women in faith, love and service. Rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ and guided by the example of Saint Peter, we strive to foster spiritual growth, sisterhood, and active participation in the life of the Church. Through prayer, fellowship and outreach, we empower one another to live out our Christian calling and build a supportive, Christ-centered community.
Women Together in Christ meets at the Community Centre on the 3 rd Monday of the month 7-9pm

Young Adults

St Peters Young Adults (SPYA) is a welcoming and safe space for young adults (18-35) to come together to deepen their relationship with God, build lasting relationships with like minded individuals, and serve with purpose, making a meaningful difference in our parish and beyond. The group meets in the Community Centre on the 1 st and 3 rd Sunday of the month at 6pm.

5. Service

Circle of Hope

The Circle of Hope exist to be the face of Christ in our community, offering compassion, dignity and practical support to those doing it tough.
Each week, they provide essential groceries to families facing financial pressure, food insecurity, major sickness and social isolation. But beyond food, they offer something just as important: encouragement, belonging and hope.
Circle of Hope is a ministry of faith in action. It is the Gospel lived out through service. It is neighbours helping neighbours. It is love expressed in practical ways.

Communion to the Sick

Special Ministers of Communion to the Sick take Holy Communion to people who are unable to attend Mass. Ministers will visit and distribute communion to the sick, elderly, home bound parishioners and residents at St Vincent's Aged Care.

Knights of the Southern Cross

The Knights of the Southern Cross is an Order of Catholic men, formed over a hundred years ago, to defend the rights of Catholics in difficult times. This work continues today as we focus on the future of the Church, and Parish, by fostering the Christian Way of Life through Spiritual and Charitable Activities, and the support of the Clergy and Family Life. Meetings are conducted monthly, with interaction between meetings.

St. Vincent de Paul Society

The Society aspires to live the Gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice, hope, and joy; to shape a more just and compassionate society. Our members assist people of all cultures in our parish area who are in financial difficulties. We meet every first and third Tuesday of the month at 7:3Spm in the Community Centre. Members are given a wonderful opportunity to serve Jesus our Lord in the poor. "As often as you did it to one of these, the least of my brethren, you did it to me.
